FAQ &
Privacy

Data protection and your privacy is incredibly important to us at Scancast which is why we do everything in house. Every digital file we create and work with is created on a secure passworded system without access to any online servers. We know of other artists who have suffered with copyright issues and false reproductions of their work by cowboy companies. We take privacy and security incredibly seriously to ensure your art, brand and commission is completely safe. We are happy to sign an NDA where applicable and any digital works are stored or deleted as appropriate to your wishes.

1

How do I know what material is best for my project?

We offer a variety of printing materials from resin, PLA, coloured or clear materials. We will be able to advise you on the best material to suit your budget and wishes. Different printing materials provide different levels of detail. The general rule of thumb is if you wish to print small to 30cm - 50cm then resin is usually best and anything with fine details and pattern work. If you want to enlarge then we would recommend PLA or similar as this is a faster printing process for larger designs.

2

Can you visit me or do I come to you?

Both, we can travel to you for a small fee as we understand there maybe many reasons why it maybe difficult to move a large piece of art or its fragility. Or you can come to us and see various examples of different prints, finishing and we can perfect what is needed for your project. You are welcome to leave your art at our studio for scanning or take away with you.

3

Will 3D scanning damage by work?

No, 3D scanning will not damage your work and we are fully insured to scan on site or handle artworks. However 3D scanning can find certain textures difficult such as hair, darker colours or very reflective surfaces. In these instances there are things we can do to minimise these problems and can still capture all the detail you need.

4

How long does it take?

We can scan and provide a digital file within a few days. Printing will vary on size and scale of the print. This can range from a week to a few more for much larger scale prints.

5

Can you mould or cast my work for me?

We can mould and cast 3D prints into a variety of resin, cold cast metal and foundry bronze on your behalf and can advise on the best outcome for your project.
